about
Annette von Keudell works at the intersection of photography, film, installation, and sculpture. Her artistic interest lies in the transitions between body, space, and perception. Recurring themes include fragmentation, reflection, and the shifting of planes of reality—processes in which the familiar becomes alien and visibility appears precarious.
Her works are characterized by a reduced, precise visual language that creates both distance and intensity. Bodies and figures often appear alienated or isolated in her works, seeming frozen in an intermediate state, as if they belonged to a different order. The focus is less on representation than on the investigation of conditions: How does presence arise? When does an image become a body, when does a body become an image?
Annette von Keudell's practice combines conceptual thinking with visual rigor. Whether in photographic series, large-scale installations, or movement-based works, she always negotiates the fragility of perception and the question of how identity, physicality, and space are reformed in media structures.
